Re: Wrong label. Help, please?

Thanks everyone,

I knew I could count on all of you for an answer.

Gregor, this plant came from Schwerter, so I feel super confident now that I have got the right name for it. I will put a new label on the plant straight away.

Thanks!

Wrong label. Help, please?

Bought this in May as Phalaenopsis violacea 'Blue' (Malaysia). I knew straight away it was wrong because the leaves are long and narrow, and the spikes are long, erect and the nodes are quite far apart, but I thought it might have been Phal violacea var Mentawai, which I also bought at the same time...

Re: Stupid question (quite probably)...

Hello all, It has been ages since I last was here, hasn't it? Well, I am back now. Thanks to Mary and Suri. Yes, Suri, that is the type of pattern I meant. Sometimes you see them with solid pink/magenta and sometimes with that sort of stripped pattern. I am still wondering what the difference is bet...

I must agree with everybody else here, that pink lip is really eye catching, and the combination of creamy white, yellow side lobes and hot pink lip is just awesome!

Re: Amazingly bright tiny multifloral...had to buy

Yes, Looking at the pictures, the plant habit suggest pulcherrima, as well as the lip shape of the flowers. However, the short spike is nothing like a pulcherrima or buyssoniana (which by the way, can sometimes produce side branches. I can tell this for sure as this year, one of my pulcherrima plant...

Definitely not fasciata. Either cornu-cervi, borneënsis or pantherina.

Re: phal. stuartiana var.nobilis

Markus, I love how your plant has become a nice yellowish colour with age, and you might not like the form much, but I really like it! My seedling from flask, which flower for the first time this year, just looked like a normal stuartiana. I was hoping for some yellowing, but it never happened. I wi...

Re: Phal bellina - CL 162 bellina 'Blue' x Sib

Hi Jim, I wouldn't say that your plant and that on Phals.net look alike that much. I am copying this word by word from Christenson's book for the purpose of noting what is the differentiating trait of Phal bellina f. bowringiana. " This form differs from the typical form in having distinct spots and...

Re: Phal bellina - CL 162 bellina 'Blue' x Sib

Hi Jim, Lovely plant indeed. Looking at the stripy markings on the dorsal sepal and the petals, could it be possible that this is also Phal bellina var bowringiana? I only ask because I have just happened to be re-reading the description for all the different bellina forms and varieties in Erich Chr...

Re: Trichocentrum carthagense-IN SITU!

Francis, that was my grandmother's name... Love that name  Was it Francis or Frances? I ask because I am male, and although in my native Spain there is no mistaking my name, here in the UK, where I have now lived for 15 years, I still cause a lot of confusion. Probably my most memorable time...

Re: Trichocentrum carthagense-IN SITU!

I hope I find more too!!! I've found tons of orchids out of bloom, but I'm probably the only one who would appreciate those pictures. Hi Martin,You would be surprised how much people can appreciate pictures of orchids in their natural environment, even if they are not in flower. The fact that you c...
