Phalaenopsis parishii Blooming?

Post by raybark » Fri Jan 25, 2019 5:02 pm

This time I'm asking for-, rather than giving advice: when does this plant bloom?

I acquired a stick-mounted, "blooming size" Phal. parishii from Andy's over the summer. Two mature leaves, lots of roots. Since bringing it inside last autumn, I have had it in a glass vase terrarium, illuminated by a custom designed LED. Even more roots, and over the last 10 days or so, another leaf has emerged, and will likely reach its maximum size in another couple of weeks.

It appears to be quite vigorous, so it's making me impatient!

This species should start to bloom in April.

I did a search for Phal parishii on my forum - and I see hybrid made with this species as well as this species itself bloom around April.

Here is a link to Phal parishii var alba that bloomed last April.

I got mine last year around April and was in bloom.
It grew two new leaves and dropped all the original leaves in a year under my care, and is having two short spikes now, maybe couple more months I can see some blooms from it again.

Thanks, everyone.

The particular plant I have has leaves about 1/3 the size of the one in Peter's photo in the alba thread, but as every leaf is that size, I'm guessing it is a trait and not a sign of immaturity.
