About Peter Lin

Peter Lin is an orchid hybridizer, speaker, writer, and lifelong orchid enthusiast based in North Texas. He has been growing orchids for more than 30 years and maintains a collection of over 10,000 plants in his greenhouse.

Peter served as Newsletter Editor for the International Phalaenopsis Alliance for three years and has written articles for numerous orchid societies and publications, including the Taiwan International Orchid Show.

His primary passion is Phalaenopsis, with a special interest in novelty breeding, fragrance, and flower quality. He also enjoys growing Vandas, Cattleyas, and Paphiopedilums.

Peter has received numerous American Orchid Society (AOS) awards, one of the highest honors in the orchid world, recognizing excellence in orchid growing and breeding.

About Big Leaf Orchids

Founded in 1996, Big Leaf Orchids is a family-owned mail-order nursery based in Southlake, Texas, specializing in novelty Phalaenopsis orchids.

Each year, Peter travels to Taiwan to work with leading breeders, explore the newest breeding lines, and hand-select exceptional plants for customers in the United States. Many of these unique varieties also become part of his own hybridizing program.

Big Leaf Orchids focuses on healthy, well-established plants selected for outstanding flower quality, fragrance, and ease of growing. Every order, whether it contains one orchid or many, is carefully packed with the same attention to detail to help ensure it arrives in excellent condition.

Many orchids from Big Leaf Orchids have gone on to receive recognition from the American Orchid Society (AOS), reflecting the quality of the breeding and the dedication of the growers who bloom them.

Our goal is simple: to share exceptional orchids and provide friendly, knowledgeable service to fellow orchid enthusiasts throughout the United States.

Big Leaf Orchids maintains a private Facebook community exclusively for our customers in the United States. The group provides a place to ask growing questions, share blooming photos, learn from other hobbyists, and receive updates on new arrivals and orchid care.

Membership is available to existing Big Leaf Orchids customers and requires a valid order number when requesting to join.
