This cultivar 'Blue Whale' was recently awarded at Dallas Orchid Juding Center. From award description "Two striking, flat flowers and one bud on one 5-cm inflorescence plus one immature inflorescence; flowers vivid-saturated deep purple, pale lavender concentric stripes basally, apices purple; petals prominent ribbing; lip trilobed, midlobe intense violet, side lobes golden yellow, margin lavender purple; column and anther cap lavender; substance very firm; texture satiny."
