Phalaenopsis kapuasensis.  Recently described species in 2017. A cousin to Phalaenopsis gigantea. It was discovered in 2011.

Also known as the Kapuas Hulu Phalaenopsis, is a species of orchid endemic to Borneo.[1] The specific epithet kapuasensis refers to the indonesian locality Kapuas Hulu, from which the type specimen was obtained.

These are seed grown, originated from a nursery in Malaysia to a greenhouse in Taiwan.

Grower tip to this species, keep the plant dry after repotting.  When growth resume (new root tips and leaves), feed with high nitrogen so plant can develop thick leaves like Phal gigantea to be more disease tolerant.

This speices is new to us. It is known to be slower growing. We do not recommend it for growers new to Phalaenopsis or species.

Leaves are silver green similar to Phalaenopsis gigantea. However, plant does not get as large as Phal gigantea - and leaves are narrow, not as wide and long like Phal gigantea.

Flowers are star shape, yellow-green with red markings.

Fragrance is said to be very very faint by CK Lim on Facebook. Fragrance is described as 'mild lemongrass smell, or old dehydrated lemony flavor car refersher gel'  Scent is strongest in the late morning, need to put your nose against it.

We estimate these to be about 12 month from flowering. We have one plant in spike with leaf span of 8-10 inches.

Warm growing, flowering season is late spring to early summer.  Keep temperature at least 70 F year round.
